It’s very cold, and many are getting terrible flu and colds. You don’t have to be one of them if you start boosting your immunity now.

Here are ways to protect your body from viral invaders all winter long!

Go For Warm Foods: Choose cooked over raw; warm foods are gentler on the body during the colder months.  Go for Soups, curries, and stews that have plenty of veggies, herbs and warming spices. This will make food digestion easier and makes your meal nutrient dense!

 Drink Up: Water helps maintain your health in the winter. Aim for at least 8-10 cups a day. Try minimizing sugar filled drinks and caffeine as they are diuretic; they can suppress your immune system and dehydrate you.

Ginger Tea: It tastes great and also diminishes cold symptoms if taken early enough! All you have to do is cut some ginger slices, add boiling water and top it off with freshly squeezed lemon juice and honey.

Make Homemade Cough Syrup: Mix ¼ cup honey and ¼ apple cider vinegar; mix well and take 1 tbsp every 4 hours.

Raw honey: Unpasteurized honey is an antimicrobial agent and an antioxidant. It boosts immunity and suppresses coughs.

Thyme (Za’tar): Loaded with antibacterial compounds, fresh or dried thyme is a cold-season powerhouse; just add Thyme to boiling water, it works wonders!
