Maintaining Your Oily Skin In Summer

When heat approaches we tend to look for ways to feel fresh, often these ways include getting rid of make up and flaunting our fresh face and natural beauty! We want to help you feel more relaxed in your own skin, so we will have a series of articles, each discussing tips for maintaining a different skin type. We will start off with Oily Skin!

Oily skin in my opinion s the hardest to maintain during summer time, your face keeps on producing oils even if you are chilling in your living room. You always look sweaty, so here are some tips to maintain Oily Skin:

  • Drink Fluids

Water in general is good for your body, it is good for all skin types. If you drink 8 cups of water a day, it will help your skin feel younger and reduce your chances of getting wrinkles. Drinking water will detoxify your body and maintain your fluid balance

  • Use Oil Free Cosmetics

When choosing foundation and other make-up, pick those with gel, liquid or powder bases. If using a liquid make-up make sure it is water based, not oil based. Don’t get normal oil based foundation and depend on powder. The powder will clog your pores and you will have a higher chance of getting acne.

  • Exfoliate

Exfoliate once a week to help loosen and remove dirt and oil in your pores. Even if you don’t apply make up, just walking around in the street your face will become dirty. Exfoliating regularly will lessen your chance of getting acne.

  • Wash your face

Always wash your face twice a day – once in the morning and once before bed. Washing more often can strip your skin of   all the natural moisturizers and increase oil production. The only time you should wash your face more than twice a day is if you have been perspiring.

  • Moisturizing

Oily skin still needs to be moisturized, but be careful to choose the right moisturizer. Look for water based or oil-free moisturizers and stay away from creams and heavy moisturizers.

Follow these steps and your oily skin will thank you, these will help you feel normal, not too oily and definitely fresh. Go ahead, try them out and embrace your own skin.
