Team Egypt Day 2 Olympics Roundup at Rio 2016 Aug 7
1- In shooting, 19 year old Afaf ElHodhod participated in 2 events – shooting 10 meter air pistol women and 25 pistol women. Afaf ElHodhod had succeeded to reach the finals and printed her name as the first ever female shooter to reach the Olympics Shooting Finals. ElHodhod ended fifth in the 10 meter air pistol competition.
2- Egypt’s Men Handball team lost the opener to Slovenia 27:26 after a very competitive head-to-head game in Group B , this includes host Brazil, who will face Olympic silver medalists Sweden and European champions Germany, along with Poland, Slovenia and Egypt.
3. In Men’s Volleyaball Tournament, Poland secured straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) vs. Egypt in a match at Maracanazinho Stadium in Rio. Pool B includes Poland No 2 World Rank, Russia No 3 World Rank, Argentina No 6 World Rank, Iran No 8 World Rank, Cuba No 15 World Rank and Egypt No 17 World Rank according to FIVB World Ranking. 27 Year Old 2.10 m. Mohamed Abdel Halim, of AlAhly Club, led Egypt with 9 points, including two blocks and two aces, and Ahmed El Kotb, of Talaa Elgiesh, added another 8 points.
4- The Egyptian ‘No-Bikini’ women’s beach volleyball team took the court for their match vs.Germany wearing long sleeves and long pants. In contrast to the usual beach volleyball uniform – bikinis for women and board shorts for men. The International Volleyball Federation loosened the standards regulating the uniforms to allow full sleeves and pants, the move was made to open up the game culturally according to FIVB
Today, in shooting Hamada Talaat, Ahmed Kamar competes in Men’s 10 meter Air Rifle and Shooting Trap Men respectively. In women fencing Nada Hafez competes in the table of 64. In Rowing Men’s and Women’s Single Sculls Repechages take place. In Judo MoheyEldin Mohamed competes vs. Ganbaatar Odbayar of Mongolia In Men -73 kg Elimination Round of 32. In Boxing 22 year old Mohamed Walid competes vs. 22 year old British Josh Kelly in Men’s Welter (69kg).
